Since 1987, YVC has witnessed countless youth whose lives have been transformed by service. Studies have found that youth who volunteer have an increased sense of personal control and self esteem. Participants also demonstrate an enhanced development of identity and life skills including leadership, job responsibility, and higher academic achievement. Youth who volunteer have found that they can develop negative attitudes about service if they do not feel their efforts are making a difference. To ensure youth have a meaningful experience YVC aims to provide participants with high-quality, team-based projects and an opportunity to reflect on what their efforts have achieved.

Registering for YVC projects is easy as 1, 2, 3!
1. Fill out the YVC Application!
This can be returned to Brynnan via email at [email protected] or in person at the Avery Parks and Recreation office. This application must be filled out in order to participate in volunteer events. There are English and Spanish copies available to fill out.
*This does not apply to summer registration, check the link in our "Summer YVC" tab to register there!
2. Sign-up for specific projects!
Signing up for specific events is easy! Simply fill out the event form with your name, email and the event you would like to participate in! You will get a confirmation email within a few days verifying your spot on the roster. Additionally, you will receive an email the day before the event with important information such as the location of the project, recommended attire and more. Some events have limited space so be sure to sign up quick!
3. Join us for the service event!
Once you have completed these steps you are ready to work on the project! The day before the event, you will receive a reminder email. This email will contain all the information that you will need for the day (recommended attire, project details, etc.). Transportation to and from the event is available upon request. All out of town projects (such as Safe Haven Humane Society) will have transportation available. Please let your YVC leader know ASAP if you need transportation accommodations.
